EcoNation is an integrated mixed-reality platform and tracking tool that offers a unique blend of features.
The downloadable app is available for free and empowers users to monitor their eco-friendly activities in real-time.
As users engage in eco-conscious actions, such as recycling, they are rewarded with EcoCredits. These EcoCredits can be exchanged within the in-app marketplace for sustainable products, discounts, and other valuable rewards.
Currently, the app enables users to locate and map waste collection points, document their environmental cleanup efforts, track their recycling actions, and report the condition of recycling stations. To validate their actions, users complement their documentation with real-life photos. Additionally, a proof-of-community concept allows fellow users to verify these actions.
EcoNation goes Bhutan

The EcoNation platform underwent a pilot project in Bhutan, a country known for its carbon-negative status but lacking an efficient waste management system. This choice of location allowed for a meaningful impact by increasing awareness about responsible waste management and creating a data-driven foundation for a viable waste management system.
Through quantitative and qualitative measurements, including the tracking of cleanup events and surveys among participating volunteers, the EcoNation platform demonstrated its promising potential. Its group functionality and opportunities for both non-financial and financial compensation make it an engaging tool for a diverse range of individuals, each with varying levels of knowledge and motivation regarding environmentally friendly behaviors.
Looking ahead, our aspiration is to continually adapt the platform to meet the diverse needs of users and expand its applicability. From recycling to sustainable mobility, environmentally friendly consumption, and beyond, EcoNation aims to foster a connected community of EcoHeroes worldwide.
