The wind was getting stronger, and Max felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. Something was off. Suddenly, Léo pointed to the water, his eyes wide with fear.
“There’s something under the boat!” he cried.
Max leaned over, his heart pounding, and saw a huge shadow moving beneath the waves. It circled the boat once, then again. A fin cut through the surface.
“It’s a shark!” they shouted in unison, holding on to each other as the boat rocked violently.
“Stay calm,” Max said, though his own voice was shaking. “We’ve faced bigger challenges, right?”
But as the shark’s fin drew closer, even Max wasn’t sure what would happen next…

Max and Léo’s Football Island is a children’s book I wrote for two young brothers, capturing their imaginations through a story of adventure, teamwork, and ecological awareness.
